Mark Patterson

Widely popular for his blunt, insightful analysis, Mark Patterson hosted Mountaineer's much acclaimed in-house show for 25 years. Mark also worked for some 36 years as a racing official, serving in a multitude of positions that included racing secretary, assistant racing secretary, placing judge, clerk of scales, identifier, and clocker. In addition, he has done the official morning line on some 40,000 races and assigned the weights for more than 200 handicap events. Mark has also held licenses as a thoroughbred owner and groom.

*Mindful of potential backlash due to (wholly unsubstantiated) rumors that he sometimes wagered on races, Mark avoided steward's duty like Count Dracula does the cross.
